The Vermont Farm to Plate initiative, first established in 2009, has been hard at work developing and implementing strategies to increase economic development in Vermont’s farm and food sector, create jobs in the farm and food economy, and improve access to healthy local food for all Vermonters.

Operated as a program of the Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund, VT Farm to Plate engages farmers, value-added producers, distributors, institutions and consumers in developing the Vermont food system so that local food is more accessible to Vermonters and farmers have better access to local markets.

Their latest initiative, #RootedinVermont, celebrates how Vermonters acquire and enjoy local food—from growing or foraging, purchasing directly from a farmer or at the store, hunting or fishing, eating at schools, institutions or restaurants serving local food, finding food from a food shelf, or just by trading with friends and neighbors.
